Thermography (infrared) is a technique for obtaining an image of the different temperatures observed in a house.

Infrared thermography is a non-destructive diagnostic tool. It helps to detect disorders invisible to the naked eye. It can detect local changes in temperature, and therefore detect hidden defects.

Some examples of problems that can be identified:

  • Water leaks in walls, floors or ceilings before they are visible to the naked eye.
  • Insulation improperly installed, moved or prematurely deteriorated.
  • Leakage of air visible or hidden inside the walls.
  • Defective components such as circuit breakers at fault, windows, radiant floors, etc...

What are the advantages of a thermal inspection?:

  • The technique is rapid.
  • It is a non-destructive means to locate problems. So one way to limit the cost of demolition and reconstruction.
  • Occupants can remain on the premises during the inspection.
  • The technique visually shows problem areas.
  • The inspection is made by building inspectors. Combining technology with experience and knowledge of an inspector.
  •
  • Water infiltration on a ceiling that is invisible to the naked eye, but visible via thermography
